Thank you dear friends for your overwhelming support. We are deeply humbled. Your love has brought us both to Jesus and tears repeatedly. Thank you. We want you to know that we are more in love with Christ and His Church than ever before through this experience. Largely due to your love, we are able to say that we are truly thanking and praising God for all that has happened.
Daisy Love starts radiation treatment tomorrow (1o.o7.o9) at 11:50 am. She will have 13-14 consecutive days of it (except weekends… I guess cancer takes weekends off?). Each appointment will take about half an hour total. They will treat her whole abdominal region 7 times and then just the area of her peri-aorta lymph nodes 6-7 times. One of the ways we can pray during this time is for a minimization of the side affects.
Short term side effects may include:
- Nausea
- Affects on bowel movements. Meaning more frequent and looser.
- More frequent urination and discomfort during
- Fatigue
- Reddening of skin
Long term side effects may include:
- Reproductive System: Higher risk of premature labor in later life. Higher risk of mal-positioned fetus.
- She only has one kidney left as the left one with the tumor was removed. This kidney may be damaged by the radiation.
- Her liver can be damaged from the treatments.
- Her growth will be affected. The doctor thinks she will end up one to two inches shorter than she would have been otherwise. (please pray that this one does not happen… especially if she has Kate’s height genes! ;-) Also, he says her bottom set of ribs will always be smaller.
- Radiation can cause cancer. She is at a higher risk of cancer throughout her life having had this treatment.
How about we all just pray for ZERO side effects!!!
Also, Daisy just needs strength and courage to walk back into that hospital and do so just about everyday for the next few weeks. She never wants to see a hospital or doctor again.
Isaiah 26:3-4You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,
all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the Lord always,
for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.
